Avilyn Meyer, Celebrate the Arts Contest Emerging Artist Winner!

Congratulations to Rock County 4-H Member, Avilyn Meyer on her selection as an Emerging Artist in the Celebrate the Arts Contest!  Avilyn submitted her photo, “Precious Petals” to the Celebrate the Arts Contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. Avilyn’s photo was one of more than 160 entries entered in the contest. Her entry was one of six winners in the Emerging Artists’ category recognizing young artists with creative promise.
Other awards announced include one winner in each of eight categories:
  1. Drawing
  2. Painting
  3. Pottery, Ceramics or Clay
  4. Fabric, Yarn or Fiber
  5. Wood
  6. Other Media
  7. Photography
  8. Paper
Additionally, four Honorable Mention award winners and two Special Merit award winners were chosen.
The winner of the prestigious Best of Show will be announced at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5 on Facebook Live!
Many of the award-winning entries will be available to purchase at the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Celebrate the Arts virtual event from April 12 to April 17 featuring jewelry with a 4-H theme, as well as Buy It Now options on some of the art! The celebration culminates with the “An Evening of Art” virtual auction on Saturday, April 24, beginning at 6 p.m. The virtual auction will feature 4-H performing artists, live auction excitement and a salute to our talented and creative 4-H youth.
The event generates funding the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation uses to support Wisconsin 4-H arts and communications programs like ArtBeat!, Art Lab and the state drama, communications, photography and culinary teams.  Proceeds from the event will be split evenly with half invested in the Peter Talen 4-H Arts Endowment, which provides perpetual support for arts and communications programs, and half used for arts programming in the next 4-H program year.
