Paying for College

Scholarships: If you know where to look, you can find a lot of opportunities for scholarship money. There are eligibility requirements to be aware of:

  • Location (i.e. only available for Wisconsin residents)
  • Membership based (i.e. only members or their family members are eligible)
  • Academic achievement requirements
  • Leadership achievement requirements
  • Degree/major specific
  • College type (i.e. technical college students, university students, apprenticeships, etc.)

Read the fine print to see if you are eligible to apply. Check out our scholarship listing:

Loans: This is money you can borrow now to pay for school and school-related expenses (room and board, etc.). When you pay back the loan, you also pay interest on top of the loan amount you borrowed. Be careful with interest rates or else you could be paying a lot more than you bargained for. Read the fine print and know what you are signing up for and how long you have to pay it back.  You need to be able to pay back these loans after you graduate.  Ask your financial institution for advice and information.

Employer: Check with your company to see if they offer tuition assistance or other programs to help finance your education. Sometimes this may require a commitment from you to work for the company for a period of time after your graduate. Check to see if there are any stipulations or requirements.
