Handling Down Cows

Properly handling cows is one of the most important responsibilities for dairy herd managers and employees.  How you care for compromised animals that depend on you is a reflection of your character, values and priorities.

Disabled cattle must be handled humanely at all times.  In the factsheet Handling Down Cows, UW-Extension Waupaca County Agriculture Agent Greg Blonde and Wisconsin Veterinarian Medical Association member Bob Leder, DVM shares how to develop a plan when responding to down animals on the farm.
