This Volunteer In Preparation (VIP) training is a for new 4-H adult volunteers and will be an online Zoom meeting.

Register Here for VIP on 10/26/2022! A link to the training will be sent to registered participants. Participants will interact and learn more about the following:

  • Overview of Extension
  • Volunteer roles and responsibilities
  • Best practices when working with youth
  • Resources available to you

4-H Youth Development programs and activities must be supervised by an adult, 18 years of age or older, who has completed the VIP training and is currently an enrolled 4-H volunteer leader. The primary purpose of this process is to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants (i.e., youth, their parents and families, salaried and volunteer staff.) Refer to the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development Policies for the complete Youth Protection policies.

In order to initially be recognized as a 4-H volunteer leader in the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development program, all adults age 18 years and over must participate in the Youth Protection Program. The Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development training program process includes:

  • Enrollment in 4Honline as a Dane County Volunteer, which includes Signed Volunteer Behavior Expectation Form and Assumption of Risk.
  • Online Mandatory Report Training for Volunteers
  • UW-Extension Volunteer in Preparation (VIP) Training
  • Successful Background Check for arrest and conviction records through the approved channel.

If you are an adult interested in becoming a 4-H volunteer, please enroll as a Volunteer in 4HOnline and register for the Volunteers In Preparation (VIP) Zoom Training Program. (Volunteers who were approved last year do not need to attend this training again.) More information on becoming a 4-H volunteer can be found here.
