4-H Promotion Challenges – October 2020
Purpose: To promote 4-H, make 4-H visible in the community, and provide an opportunity for club members to build club spirit.
It’s been an interesting year and we are proud to say that our Dane County 4-H members have continued to learn and grow throughout the pandemic. Individual members, volunteers, and clubs have found creative ways to connect and build life skills in a time when needed most. It’s time to share the awesomeness of 4-H with other youth and families who may be interested in learning more and may benefit from belonging to a welcoming group in their community.
This year, we encourage members and clubs to get involved with 4-H promotion. Here’s how…
Individual 4-H Members – Get involved with the WI 4-H Movement Challenge!
The Wisconsin 4-H Movement Challenge encourages 4-H’ers from across the state to share how they LIVE out the 4-H Movement through submissions of short videos, drawing, creative writing, or still photography. Show others how you discovered new skills, built connections, explored new opportunities or cultures, gave back to your community, made new friends, or were just able to be yourself!
Remember that National 4-H week is October 4-10, 2020. This is a fun week to share 4-H with others and each day there is a different theme! Check out the WI 4-H Spirit Week themes and join in the fun!
Make a submission between October 1- October 31, 2020 and receive a special edition Wisconsin 4-H Movement bracelet! Submissions will be shared on Wisconsin 4-H social media pages throughout the month of October. Visit bit.ly./wi4hmovementchallenge2020 to make a submission and for complete information.
Dane County 4-H Clubs – Enter the Dane County 4-H Promotion Challenge
Each year, Dane County 4-H has a Promotion Contest with prizes for the top three clubs whose report shows promotional efforts, teamwork experiences, documentation and creativity. This year is no different! Well…it’s been different for sure, but the contest will carry on with a few tweaks. Here’s how it will work.
Club members will spend the month of October promoting 4-H in a variety of ways and will send in a virtual collection of their efforts by October 31. 4-H Promotion activities can include (but are not limited to) creating and sharing a short video about 4-H, social media posts, flyers, newspaper articles, promotional talks online, window displays, etc. The collection can even include submissions that were sent to the WI Movement Challenge. Be creative!
Document the different promotions and create a virtual scrapbook using a Google Slideshow or PowerPoint by October 31, 2020. Make sure to include links if your members create videos.
- Use the 2020 4-H Club Promotion Contest Entry Form to describe the 4-H promotion activities your club did this year and upload by October 31, 2020 .
- Submit pictures and short videos whenever possible.
- Judging of reports will be done after the close of the contest. Winners will be announced at the November Leaders Association Meeting.
- Entries will be judged on Results of Promotional Efforts, Teamwork Experiences, Documentation, and Creativity.
