Pop-up training programs for non-profit organization staff

Dane County Extension invites non-profit staff to attend these highly interactive workshops:

  • June 17th, 2020 from 9:00am – 10:30am: Nonprofit Peer Learning Pop-up: Scenario Planning

In this pop-up learning circle we will explore how we might use scenario planning as a rapid planning tool in times of dramatic change. Scenario planning provides organizations with a tool to envision their future, even while the future is wildly unknown. In this highly interactive workshop, participants will create flexible plans for different “realities” that may impact them in the future. The workshop will be led by Annie Jones, University of Wisconsin-Extension Community Development Specialist.

  • June 24th, 2020 from 9:00am – 10:30am: Nonprofit Peer Learning Pop-up: Facilitating Virtual Meetings

In this session, Sharon Lezberg, Extension Dane County’s Community Development Educator, will introduce a few tools and practices for effective meetings. What makes a meeting effective? Many of us regard a successful meeting as one where the stated purpose of the meeting is achieved. But there are additional aspects of effective meetings – they engage participants and welcome diverse ideas and they serve as venues for building trust and group cohesion. An effective meeting is one in which participants leave the meeting feeling that their time has been put to good use and their input has been heard and considered.

We’ll explore ways to make your meeting participatory in the virtual environment. The main part of the session will be for you – non-profit managers, program directors, and staff persons – to share meeting facilitation practices that you’ve found effective.
