Lake Superior Master Gardeners
LSMGA supports its membership in the practical joys and benefits of volunteering for their community. Volunteers pay a membership fee and receive initial and ongoing training and volunteer opportunities. Contact the UW-Extension office in Douglas County for the fall training dates at 715-395-1363.

Food Shelf Volunteers
Northwest Community Services Agency (NWCSA) accepts local garden produce and any packaged donations that are within the date of expiration (not expired.) It is a Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) pantry including mostly canned/boxed/dry items and donated bread from local bakeries (mostly white.) Fresh produce is a huge treat! It goes asap. NWCSA Food Pantry is open M-TH 1-3:30pm and is closed daily over the noon hour. Call (715) 392-5127.
Faith United Methodist Church (FUMC) Food Pantry sponsors the largest food pantry in Douglas County and is more than a temporary emergency food assistance program TEFAP –pantry volunteers procure fresh produce from 2nd Harvest Food Shelf. FUMC food Pantry is open every Tuesday 3:30-6:30pm. FUMC Pantry prefers fresh produce drop off on Mondays and Tuesdays if possible since they are a weekly (Tues. only) pantry. However, they also serve free community meals on some weekends. Call (715) 394-9608
In addition, both Harbor House sites accept produce and donated food anytime. Harbor House #1 @ 5822 Ogden Ave. & HH #2 @: 19 N. 21st St. are run by FUMC (Rev’s Barb & Joel Certa-Werner, pastors.).
