City, business group want to create new tax zone for downtown Stevens Point

A business improvement district is a set boundary of commercial properties governed by a board of directors, consisting of a majority of property and business owners inside the district.

Such districts let the property and business owner-controlled board decide how much they want to levy in additional taxes for projects, according to the University of Wisconsin-Extension’s Local Government Center. 


Marathon County looks to address rural broadband issues
