Gas and Electric Safety Answers

1. What is natural gas used for in homes?

Answer: To heat the home and to cook with/gas stove.

2. How would you know if there is a gas leak?

Answer: By the smell; the utility companies put a rotten egg smell in natural gas so we can smell it.

3. If you are home alone smell gas in your home, what should you do?

Answer: Get out of the house and tell an adult you trust so they can report it or call 911 from a safe location.

4. What should you do if you see a power line on the ground?

Answer: Stay away from it!  Tell an adult you trust so they can report it or call 911 to report it.  Never touch a downed power line.
