Wisconsin’s comprehensive planning law requires that communities update their comprehensive plan at least once every ten years. This program will explore the variety of issues that arise as communities update, or think about updating, their comprehensive plans. This program is an overview of the fundamentals of good site design which is key to creating communities that are visually appealing and function well. Through the review of site plans, local governments can insure that new development occurs in ways that are appropriate for the site, specifically addressing issues such as enhancing open spaces, transportation connections, circulation of pedestrians, and stormwater management.
