11:30am - 1:00pm

Join us in room 3 at 212 River Drive in Wausau to discuss “Bringing Nature Home” by Douglas W. Tallamy.  This silver medal winner awarded by the Garden Writer’s Association, addresses the unbreakable link between native plant species and native wildlife. As native plants disappear due to ever expanding habitat destruction and with foreign ornamentals taking their place, the food source for insects and thus birds and wildlife will be impoverished. By gradually adding naive plants, gardeners can make a significant contribution toward sustaining biodiversity.

Participate in conversation about the link between healthy ecosystems and human well-being and what we can do about it. One reader said not to read the book before bedtime as it will make you want to “go outside and plant hackberry trees in the middle of the night.” Doug Tallamy is a professor of entomology and wildlife ecology at the University of Delaware.
