How to Find Pest Removal Experts

Occasionally our office will get a question about bee removal, but after discussion it turns out that the “bees” are actually hornets, not honey bees.  A lot of folks aren’t equipped to deal with hornets themselves, so the next question is: “who is in the area that can help me?”  In Extension we can’t recommend particular businesses, but we can show you where to look for them or suggest several local choices for you to follow up with when you are looking for this kind of service.

One way to find a pest removal expert is through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Certified Pesticide Businesses Page.

The other way to find someone local is to check out the Wisconsin Pest Control Association’s certified businesses page.  The WI Pest Control Association has a Master Tech program which is an additional qualification that some pest control workers seek out. The Master Tech qualification is achieved through an additional exam process with questions related to vertebrate pest control, insects, IPM principles, and laws and regulations.  The Master Tech program is jointly sponsored by WPCA in cooperation with the Insect Diagnostic Lab at UW-Madison, and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.
