Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development state staff welcome new Associate Program Director

Washington County 4-H Youth Development educator Kandi O’Neil will soon be joining the Wisconsin State 4-H Youth Development staff. Beginning January 1, 2012, O’Neil will serve as the 4-H Youth Development Associate State Program Director and Volunteer Leadership Specialist.

O’Neil brings significant experience, with relationship-building and an engaging, energetic presence to the position. She has been a 4-H Youth Development Educator in Washington County since 1984. In her  new role, she will serve the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension from the state level, providing scholarly leadership for 4-H volunteer development, team support for county-based faculty and staff, and risk and financial management, as well as serving as the lead for professional development for county-based 4-H Youth Development faculty and academic staff.

O’Neil is a passionate advocate for the relevance and necessity of youth development programming.  She has demonstrated success in volunteer development programming and also in political effectiveness at the county level. Central to her work is youth empowerment, and she has consistently sought out opportunities to put youth in contact with key stakeholders. Her continued dedication to scholarship in the field, paired with her skill in working with youth, volunteers and colleagues make her a tremendous asset to the program.


Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development is a program of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension in partnership with state, federal and county government in each Wisconsin county.
