Farm women from Iowa, Grant, Green and Lafayette Counties and the surrounding area are invited to participate in the Heart of the Farm – Women in Agriculture Conference to be held Jan. 31, 2012.
This program provides farm women with the opportunity to network with other farm women and learn about farm succession, women’s heart health, non-impact aerobics, farm safety, and connecting with your community about agriculture.
The conference is from 9 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. and will be held at the Iowa County University of Wisconsin Extension Office in the new Health and Human Services Building, 303 W. Chapel St., which is two blocks west of the Courthouse in Dodgeville.
Topics and presenters include:
— Farm Succession: Getting Started, Finding Resources and Developing a Team. Joy Kirkpatrick, Outreach Specialist, UW Center for Dairy Profitability
— The Heart Truth for Women. Ruth Schriefer, UW-Extension Iowa County family living agent.
— Nia™. Marjean Addison, Instructor, Upland Hills Health.
— Update of Farm Safety Rule Changes. Gene Schriefer, UW-Extension Iowa County agriculture agent.
— Useful Tools to Connect with your Community. Andrea Bossard, dairy producer, Brossard Dairy Farm, LLC; and Communications Specialist, East Central/Select Sires.
Heart of the Farm- Women in Agriculture conference series is a UW-Extension program that is committed to addressing the needs of farm women by providing education on farm business topics, connecting them with agricultural resources and creating support networks.
Pre-registration is $15 per person, with registrations due by Jan. 24, 2012, or $20 per person at the door. There are also a limited number of scholarships available to cover registration fees. Please contact Joy Kirkpatrick at 608-263-3485 to request a scholarship.
