Do you have the skills and knowledge to successfully navigate the risks associated with raising swine and getting them to market? Stop by the UW-Extension 4-H Youth in Agriculture exhibit in the Progress Pavilion at Wisconsin Farm Technology Days and test your skills with the Grow your Hog/Sell your Hog game.
Participants of the Grow your Hog/Sell your Hog game will be guided through a series of activities that will help them learn about the work and decisions that go into raising market animals.
Last year, Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development celebrated 100 years of growing Wisconsin leaders. Wisconsin 4-H Youth Development is part of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, and 4-H programs are delivered in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and federal, state and local governments. 4-H has its roots in youth corn clubs, which helped researchers at the UW-Extension share the latest agriculture developments with farmers by teaching their children.
Wisconsin 4-H programs continue to emphasize lifelong learning and a strong connection with the University of Wisconsin. Programs are available for all interests including science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), agriculture and animal science, arts and communications, leadership, healthy living, international exchange and more.
Wisconsin Farm Technology Days will be held Aug. 25-27 in Dane County. For more information about Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, visit www.wifarmtechnologydays.com .
