Institutional authority for Cooperative Extension officially transferred from UW-Extension to UW-Madison on July 1, 2018. This date also began a “transition year” for Cooperative Extension.
What does this mean?
For partners like you, there are not many changes at this time. Our mission, programming, staff and offices will remain the same. We will continue to honor all contracts and agreements made by UW-Extension. As the transition continues and Cooperative Extension settles back into our historic home at UW-Madison, we anticipate greater access to UW-Madison resources as well as more seamless communication between community-based partners and the campus in Madison.
If you have specific questions, your Area Extension Director is the best contact.
Internally, we have some administrative changes. Dean Karl Martin now reports to the Provost at UW-Madison rather than to the Provost at UW-Extension. Our team will move to new email addresses and other technological and human resources support provided by UW-Madison rather than UW-Extension over the course of the transition year.
We will continue to use the UW-Extension logo and branding for the near future. We intend to transition to UW-Madison’s red and white color scheme and a new logo at some point during the transition year. We will keep you informed about this changeover and how it may impact you as more information becomes available. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact Shannon Carpenter, Director, Communications & External Relations, UW Cooperative Extension at email@example.com.
