How do we get local foods into the schools? Currently, the Janesville and Beloit school districts are working with Fox River Foods Inc,, a distribution company that sources locally. This small start is a great first step in having more local producers source their produce directly to schools, in an effort to improve the nutritional quality and taste of school lunches.

To achieve greater success with local procurement, coalition members are reaching out to local distributors, farmers, and processors in an effort to connect the many dots for one cohesive, farm to school process. With the hard work of many, we can support local farmers, local business, and local schools.

Just this past year, Chris Blakeney of Amazing Grace Family Farm was able to provide over 700 pounds of broccoli to the Janesville School District through FarmLogix. Way to go, Chris!
