Summer Camp 2020

We hope that you have had an enjoyable summer on what it seems like an endless road of uncertainty. We were heartbroken when we had to cancel our residential programming at Upham and still shocked that this was our first summer since our founding that we did not have youth onsite for summer camp. Through all this, Upham staff have still been busy working from their homes to create remote and virtual programming, which is now available to you as a virtual summer camp experience at no cost!
Upham Woods is offering a 4-day virtual camp in celebration of the birthdays of Caroline and Elizabeth Upham! Back in 1941, Caroline and Elizabeth Upham donated their family’s land in Wisconsin Dells to UW-Madison to be used as an “outdoor laboratory” for youth to connect with nature. This land  was called Upham Woods and we operate with that vision today.
See below for a schedule!
All ages welcome.
The camp includes daily self-guided activities and virtual programs on the video conference platform, Zoom. Some of the programs are lessons naturalists have taught at Upham for years that we’ve adapted for a virtual format. A few of the programs are new!
  • Most of the activities are focused on conservation and can be completed as a part of our 10K Conservation picture of Upham Sisters, flowers, and balloonsChallenge. The 10K Conservation Challenge aims to put 10,000 hours of conservation into the landscape by the end of 2020 through projects such as:
  • Becoming a nature detective and pulling invasive species
  • Taking photos of nature from your street or backyard to measure biodiversity
  • Collecting and identifying aquatic bugs from a local body of water
All of the activities are focused on Elizabeth and Caroline Upham’s vision of connecting to nature. You can register for one, some, or all of the days! Each day includes a Do It Yourself (DIY) activity to extend the fun!
Register for more than one or some or all the days!
