UW-Extension Taylor, Clark and Marathon Counties, together with the North Central WI Cattlemen’s Association and Heartland Cooperative are hosting an Evening Beef Pasture Walk on September 12, 2017 at Greg Nowicki’s, R830 Co Rd M, Athens, WI 54411.
Members of the Wisconsin Grass Fed Beef Cooperative, the Nowicki’s have invited us to walk their pastures and discuss their operation. Additional topics include Tools for Managing Pasture Grass & Soil presented by Richard Halopka, UW-Extension Clark County Crop and Soils Agent, Bull Selection and Genomics presented by Heather Schlesser, UW-Extension Marathon County Dairy and Livestock Agent, Weaning Strategies presented by Ray Melander, Beef Specialist with Heartland Cooperative and Calculating Cost of Production presented by Sandy Stuttgen, UW-Extension Taylor County Agriculture Educator.
This event begins at 5 p.m. and concludes at 8:30 pm. A nominal fee of $5 per person will be collected at the farm to help offset costs. So we can best prepare for the meal and materials, please RSVP by Sept 7 by calling the UW-Extension Taylor County office at 715-748-3327 ext. 9. This event will be held rain or shine, dress accordingly and bring your lawn chair.
The farm is located southeast of Athens. Follow Hwy 97 south to Co Rd M, take M east 2 miles to the farm, N side of the road.
