Alice JanesAlice Janes

Green Lake County 4-H Volunteer

Alice Janes has spent her life giving of her head, heart, hands, and health to the community of Berlin and Green Lake County 4-H youth.

She began as a sewing leader and over the years served as a leader for knitting, crafts, and foods and nutrition. Foods and nutrition was her passion. She invited any interested 4-H’er into her kitchen to learn how to measure, read a recipe, set a place setting, create a menu, and bake cookies, pies, pastries, and cakes on a weekly basis. Over the years Alice taught many baking skills to hundreds of 4-H’ers. When she needed to move to an assisted living facility, she continued cooking classes in their kitchen.

Alice’s service includes giving to her church, as a member of the St. John’s Ladies Aid. She has volunteered her time at Berlin Memorial Hospital and contributed to their bake sales. She was a member of Homemakers and Farm Bureau.

Alice Janes’ life is one of service that has touched the lives of many 4-H’ers.
