Wayne C. Schroeder
Richland and Portage County 4-H Agent
Wayne began his passionate career as a 4-H member with animal, mechanical, photography, and leadership projects. After working as a summer and interim 4-H Agent in two counties in the early 1960s, his first full-time position was in Richland County. In 1966 started as the 4-H Agent in Portage County, where he retired as an Associate Professor Emeritus in 1992.
Wayne’s career highlights include work in the traditional 4-H program, pioneering face-to-face and conference judging, serving as NAE4-HA President, and helping establish the UW-Extension Academic Department of Youth Development. Wayne’s wide range of contributions was recognized in his induction to the 2013 National 4-H Hall of Fame in 2013.
Wayne is a man of integrity with strong work and personal ethics who positively influences everyone he meets within and outside the 4-H program.
