Plan Commissioner Information and Resources – November 2014

November 2014

1. Thank you for attending the October 29th Plan Commissioner Network meeting.  Here are some highlights from that conversation:

  • Whether your town is one year or 5 years away from updating its comprehensive plan, this is a good time to start considering how you will accomplish that.
  • Updating your comprehensive plan is an opportunity to look at new issues in a new way.  There is no statutorily defined definition of what ‘update’ means so you can do as much or little as needed.  The discussion materials provide some ideas for how to make your plan updating process useful and meaningful to your town.
  • The county provided an update of their Comprehensive Planning Process.  They are currently underway and looking to work closely with the towns as maps are updated.  You can connect with your town representative on the steering team, or reach out to Brian and Cary at the County directly with questions and to learn more.

If you missed the conversation, the meeting materials are posted here.

3.  New Wisconsin MegaTrends publication about water – This publication is intended for local government officials and others interested in investigating the connections between water and land use. We provide a timeline of Wisconsin’s association with water, provide an understanding of water resources, and discuss a range of state and local policies that affect water use and the resource itself.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy holiday and hunting season!
