Plan Commissioner Information and Resources – April 2016

Happy Spring!

  1. Our first Network meeting of 2016 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27 6:30-8:00pm at the JP Coughlin Center.  Our discussion topic will be: Local Food – trends and implications for land use regulation in Winnebago County.  I’m working on having a couple of guests present about local food trends in Winnebago County, and looking for examples of land use supports and barriers to the expanding local food movement.  If you have any ideas or thoughts, please let me know.  Hope to see you there!

3. Interested in signs?  The City of Oconomowoc with the International Sign Association and Wisconsin Sign Association is putting together a one-day signage workshop.  Attached find the information flyer.  It is to take place on May 5, 2016 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Oconomowoc, WI.   It will run from 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM, and 4.5 hours of AICP CM has been applied for.  The registration cost is $25.00 per person and that includes continental breakfast and lunch.  Click here for the brochure —  Planning for Sign Code Success WI 2016

4.  New publication – Putting Wetlands to Work for Your Community.  A publication designed to help locally elected and appointed officials better understand wetlands and options for protecting and restoring them. Available at the link below.  http://wisconsinwetlands.org/puttingwetlandstowork.pdf.

5. Model Wetland Conservation Ordinance. The model ordinance provides policy options for county, municipal, and tribal governments to be more engaged in preserving wetland hydrology (e.g., limiting the indirect impacts of adjacent/upstream land uses).  This ordinance will be available soon at www.wisconsinwetlands.org.
