University of Wisconsin Small Ruminant Webinar Series on Animal Health, February 12th, 2020

(Madison) The University of Wisconsin Animal Sciences Department and the Division of Extension will be hosting a small ruminant webinar series on February 12, 2020 related to Small Ruminant Animal Health. The program will start at 7:30 p.m. and end by 9 p.m. CST. These meetings can be taken from your home using a computer, a phone, or at your local extension office using Zoom technology. Check with your extension office if they plan to host. Zoom meetings allow for more natural interaction between the presenters and participants and provide an opportunity to ask questions and have a discussion with other online users.

“We are excited to bring back this type of remote education for sheep producers across Wisconsin,” said Todd Taylor, UW Madison Shepherd. These webinars are a new spin from the long-standing and widespread sheep ETN meetings that retired Dr. Dave Thomas, sheep specialist, hosted during his tenure at the University of Wisconsin.

February’s speaker is Cindy Wolf. Cindy is a solo veterinary practitioner who has been providing veterinary services to small ruminant producers for over 34 years.  She retired from the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 where she taught veterinary students and provided veterinary services in the areas of small ruminant veterinary medicine, surgery and production since 1984.  She continues to represent the American Sheep Industry and the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners on a national level regarding industry issues.  She also helps her husband on her family’s commercial sheep, goat and beef forage-based farm near Rushford Minnesota. They rely heavily on livestock protection dogs and Border Collies in their operation.   She also raises Siremax sheep which are data-driven and selected terminal sires.
