This short article, Understanding Innovation, for practitioners provides an introduction to the adoption of innovative practices.  It identifies three management strategies and eight leverage points.. The article recommends these goals and leverage points as central to starting the process of change.  The management strategies are:

• Maintain stakeholder attention on purpose and outcome.
• Translate ideas into action.
• Promote shared ownership.
