Paul Roback, professor and Extension educator in Ozaukee County, was named the 2025 recipient of the Van Hise Outreach Teaching Award. Paul, seen above receiving an Extension award for excellence in education and outreach at the 2022 Extension All Colleague Conference, was given the honor for his work to exemplify the guiding philosophy of UW–Madison’s outreach efforts to extend the borders of the university.
The Van Hise Outreach Teaching Award was established in 1990 to honor distinguished teaching by a member of UW–Madison’s faculty.
Paul began his Extension career in 2001 as Extension educator in Ozaukee County providing education on the topics of land use planning, local government, and economic development. He joined Extension’s Washington County office in 2007 and currently provides educational programming on the topics of organizational and community development and local government. Paul’s academic area of focus includes outcome measurement of organizational development interventions.
Twelve faculty members have been chosen to receive this year’s Distinguished Teaching Awards, an honor given out since 1953 to recognize some of the university’s finest educators. A ceremony will take place April 15 at Memorial Union; RSVP by March 25.
