Extension’s 4-H program has had AmeriCorps members working across the state to boost programming for youth and was planning for summer work for more than 30 AmeriCorps members in 23 counties. Due to immediate cuts in federal funding this past spring, our work with AmeriCorps became uncertain before UW–Madison offered limited bridge funding to support the AmeriCorps members as UW interns. Additionally, litigation restoring a portion of the funding means 4-H’s partnership with AmeriCorps will continue through the summer and beyond.

Thanks to UW–Madison’s support for substitute funding 4-H was able to keep the AmeriCorps partnership going and bring these services to communities across the state. That means resources can be re-dedicated back to their original purpose to support youth engagement within 4-H.
