CDC Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System
The CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) monitors the prevalence of health-risk behaviors and experiences among U.S. high school students. Conducted biennially since 1991, the YRBSS surveys a broad range of issues that contribute to the leading causes of death, disability, and social problems among youth, including tobacco use, diet, physical activity, substance use, sexual behaviors, and violence/injury. The data can be used to evaluate national trends. Data may be available at a state, location, or school district level, but this is only the case for selected locations.
