New USDA Report on America’s Family Farms

The US Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service has issued a 12-page snapshot of US farms.  More than 90 percent of US farm operations are classified as small farms by the USDA.  You can access the full report here.

The 2015 North Central Region – Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (NCR-SARE) Farmer Rancher Grant Call for Proposals is now online at http://www.northcentralsare.org/Grants/Types-of-Grants/Farmer-Rancher-Grant-Program. Proposals are due on November 20, 2014 at 4pm CT.  These grants are a great opportunity for farmers to test new ideas that support the environmental, social, and economic sustainability of agriculture.
