Extension Fund

Extension is a public service that connects people with UW-Madison and engages with them in transforming lives and communities. Extension offers educational programs in areas such as Agriculture, Community Development, Human Development & Relationship, Health & Well-Being, Natural Resources, and Positive Youth Development. By donating to Extension, you are supporting the Wisconsin Idea of extending the university’s resources and expertise to every family and corner of the state. Your contribution will help Extension continue to teach, learn, lead, and serve the people of Wisconsin.

Literacy Link

Extension’s Literacy Link program offers a suite of strategies designed to connect children and parents in justice-involved families through literacy-rich experiences and environments. The Literacy Link partners with jails, criminal justice organizations, libraries, and others to foster healthy family relationships and promote language and literacy skills in children. By donating to The Literacy Link, you are helping young children who have a parent or caregiver involved in the local correctional systems to access educational opportunities and resources.

StrongBodies

Extension’s StrongBodies is a program that helps people of all ages to live stronger, healthier lives by providing access to evidence-based strength training classes and education. StrongBodies improves physical and mental health, prevents chronic diseases, and reduces the risk of falls and injuries. By donating to StrongBodies, you are supporting a diverse community of individuals who are fit, strong, and healthy, and who can become agents of change for their families and communities. Your donation will also help StrongBodies expand its reach and impact across the state of Wisconsin.

Upham Woods

Extension’s Upham Woods is a residential outdoor learning center that connects people with the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Upham Woods offers environmental, outdoor, and recreational programs and activities for youth and adults. By donating to Upham Woods, you are supporting the Wisconsin Idea of extending the university’s resources and expertise to every family and corner of the state. Your support of Upham Woods will ensure we can continue to provide quality outdoor educational experiences connecting youth with nature. This year, we are continuing to focus our efforts on Blackhawk Island access improvements so that we can facilitate positive experiences in the diverse forest communities of this amazing natural resource.

Water Action Volunteers

Extension’s Water Action Volunteers program supports communities across the state by providing free field trainings, water quality monitoring equipment, and expertise to build a knowledgeable network of stream monitoring volunteers across Wisconsin. WAV volunteers monitor 600 stream and river sites across Wisconsin each year, collecting valuable long-term water quality data that demonstrate whether a stream can support a vibrant fish community, supply clean water to lakes and rivers downstream, and is safe and enjoyable for people to recreate on. Your gift will help us reach our goal to expand volunteer stream monitoring and education to underserved regions of the state, training new groups of passionate residents who will monitor, and advocate for the water quality of their local waters for many years to come. Every $400 we raise supports a volunteer monitoring a new stream site in Wisconsin!

Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey

Extension’s WGNHS is a state program that conducts natural resources surveys and research to produce information used for decision-making, problem-solving, planning, management, development, and education. WGNHS maps Wisconsin’s geology, mineral resources, and water resources, and shares its findings through publications, technical talks, and outreach. By donating to WGNHS, you are supporting the Wisconsin Idea of extending the university’s resources and expertise to every family and corner of the state. Your contribution will help WGNHS continue to serve Wisconsin for over 125 years.

Wisconsin Master Naturalist

Extension’s Master Naturalist Program is a network of well-informed volunteers and instructors dedicated to conservation service, leadership, and lifelong learning. The program offers nature-based education and volunteer opportunities for adults across the state. By donating to the Wisconsin Master Naturalist Program, you are supporting the Wisconsin Idea of extending the university’s resources and expertise to every family and corner of the state. Your contribution will help the program continue to teach, learn, lead, and serve the people and Wisconsin’s natural world.
