Silvopasture walk

The Lancaster Agricultural Research Station will host a pasture walk of its newly established silvopasture trial on Thursday, September 29th, from 10:00am to noon.

Silvopasture is the intentional, intensively managed integration of grazing with trees.  Summer 2016 was the pilot season for a multi-year trial of silvopasture created by thinning an existing woodlot on the research station. We will look at the silvopasture and comparison plots and discuss preliminary observations of the value of silvopasture for animal welfare and managing heat stress, as well as potential environmental impacts.

Where: 7396 State Hwy 35 & 81, Lancaster, WI
