At a meeting in Sun Prairie, WI, sponsored by the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups (CWAG) Mr. Nino Amato (CWAG President and Executive Director), announced that CWAG is working on a way to recognize Wisconsin communities who have taken steps to become more aging-friendly.
Distributed at the meeting was a handout that included the criteria used by Michigan’s “Community for Lifetime” Program, and indicators developed by The Center for Home Care Policy and Research.

CWAG’s response to the question of what makes an elder-friendly community is as follows: “An elderly-friendly community may be defined as one in which elders have access to the care and services necessary for them to continue to age in place as vital members of the community.”
