Sheboygan River History…“Third Saturday” June 15, 2013

Sheboygan Mineral Water Company-1907In the early years Native Americans lived on its banks and the river provided food and transportation for people and furs. Later, many small dams that powered saw mills and grain mills were built along its course. Industries and manufacturing also located along the river, both for transportation of their products and carrying their waste away. Today the fur traders are gone, the mills have disappeared, industries are regulated and canoes, other recreational watercraft and fishing have taken their place along the length of the Sheboygan River. Join us as we remember the Sheboygan River’s ever changing history.
