The United Way in Waukesha County in Wisconsin brought together a group of community leaders for discussions related to caregiving and from that the Caregiver Connection was formed to focus on employed caregivers, which many see as one of the most important human resource issues facing the business community today.

This report, Caregivers in the Workplace:  Best Practices for Workers with Elder Caregiving Reponsiblities summarizes the cost to employers and employees of caregiving, lists supportive practices and provides a historical perspective of the elder care issue.  Beginning on page 16 are a list of Best Practices from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission  and several well-known business.  The full EEOC Best Practice List is also available on-line.  The Caregiver Connectoin report concludes with recommendations on pages 22-24.
