REEU stands for Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduates.
REEUs are typically funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). They aim to inform students about extension related jobs by providing them with paid summer extension positions in collaboration with Land Grant Universities and professors.
The Watershed Management Research and Outreach Undergraduate Internship Program referenced here is sponsored by the North Central Water Region Network , an organization comprised land-grant colleges and universities throughout the Midwest.
The goal of this program is to introduce and familiarize undergraduate students with water-related extension work. Water-related fields range from hydrology, soil science, and agriculture to communications and environmental education. Thanks to USDA Grant No. 2021-68018-34619 for funding this project.
