Karl Green Named as New Program Manager for Local Government Education

This month, Karl Green becomes Extension’s Local Government Education Program Manager. In this new role, Karl will work with local elected officials, Extension educators, and partnering local government institutions such as the Wisconsin Towns Association, the Wisconsin League of Municipalities, and the Wisconsin Counties Association to improve local government operations and their services.

Prior to becoming the Program Manager for Local Government Education, Karl served 17 years as the La Crosse County Community Development Educator. Karl has worked extensively with La Crosse County and its local governments on property taxation, housing, comprehensive planning, economic development, the frac sand industry, PFAS contamination, and ARPA funding. He was a contributor to the Basic Financial Handbook for Wisconsin Local Governments. He started his career as a Professional Geologist for a La Crosse-based civil engineering firm designing and installing public infrastructure.

Karl has a master’s of business administration from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and a bachelor’s of science in geology from Winona State University. Learn more about Extension’s Local Government Education Program
