Census of Agriculture Viewer
The Census of Agriculture Viewer, developed by UW-Extension, can be used to explore data from the USDA Census of Agriculture between 2002 and 2022. The data is organized into 4 tabs: Farms, Demographics, Crops and practices, and Livestock. Each tab contains interactive graphs for select variables that can be filtered by county.

Beginner. The data in this resource can be accessed using traditional online navigation techniques. The graphs are documented and fully explained.
Sample questions:
What is the current average age of farmers in a given county, and do the trends in new and beginning producers suggest a sufficient pipeline of next-generation farmers to sustain the local agricultural economy? How has the distribution of farm sizes in a given county shifted over the last 20 years, and is the middle category of farms shrinking in favor of a rise in very small, or very large operations?
