This program is consists of five instructional workshops held in various communities around the state. Participants receive a total of fifteen hours of specific instruction, facilitate group discussion, internet demonstrations and guest presentations.
The goals of this program are to:
- Introduce the concepts of determining business feasibility, conducting market analysis and basic business planning methods.
- Facilitate awareness of state and federal laws concerning business formation, taxation, labor issues and special licensing requirements.
- Teach the basic business financial statements, calculate various ratios that determine business health and apply management practices that improve business performance.
- Facilitate discussion of standard lending criteria, investor networks and financing programs available from local, state and federal sources.
- Provide a framework to use in creating or updating a business plan.
