Paul DeLong named Extension’s Associate Dean of Policy, Operations, and Engagement

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension recently named Paul DeLong as Extension’s Associate Dean for Policy, Operations, and Engagement, overseeing the administrative and outreach aspects of Extension’s organization.

DeLong has been a member of the Extension Board of Visitors since 2018, and is most recently the Senior Vice President of Conservation at the American Forest Foundation in Washington, D.C. At AFF DeLong led programs engaging diverse landowners across the country and leveraged partnerships to further the Foundation’s conservation impact. DeLong previously held positions at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources from 1992-2016, including bringing leadership and direction for the state agency as the Division Administrator and Chief State Forester during a tenure that spanned both the Doyle and Walker administrations.

“Paul will bring his extensive experience at the local, state, and national levels to support and lead Extension in a wide variety of initiatives,” said Karl Martin, UW–Madison Extension Dean & Director. “He has a strong background in working with funders, administrators, elected officials, and others to achieve organization-wide priorities. Our efforts to realize Extension’s vision will benefit from Paul’s input and oversight.
