Record Book Awards and Recognition

Waushara County Record Book Awards and Recognition

Waushara County 4-H members are eligible for record book awards based on the goals and accomplishments reported in their record books.

4hclover150Clubs should establish a record book award committee to review each member’s record books according to the record book evaluation sheet. Member record books should be reviewed by adult leaders and parents. Cloverbud record books should be reviewed by club leaders and parents and will not be reviewed on the county level. Each Cloverbud will receive a recognition item at Achievement Day.

4hclover150Younger members (grades 3-6 at the time of enrollment) may be nominated for a record book award sponsored by the Waushara County Association for Home and Community Education.

4hclover150Older members (grades 7 and up at the time enrollment) may be nominated for four types of awards.

Project awards recognize members for outstanding achievement in a specific project. Each older member can be nominated for awards in two projects. Clubs may wish to ask members to indicate which two projects they would like to be nominated for awards in.

Special awards are designed to recognize members for achievement in multiple projects and overall achievement or leadership experiences. Each older member can be nominated for up to two special awards.

Career awards recognize members for their accomplishments and contributions throughout their 4-H career. These awards (Robert Roggow Junior Leader Award and I Dare You Award) are not included in any of the quotas for members.

4hclover150A club may nominate up to 1/3 of their membership for county awards. Individuals nominated for county awards will be screened only by leaders from other clubs at the county record book review. Nomination does not constitute automatic award of a county level award. If more than 1/3 of the members are deserving of nomination, additional nominations will be reviewed. If less than 1/3 of the members are deserving, clubs do not need to fill the 1/3 guideline. The Community Service Award was created to recognize members who make exemplary contributions toward community service. This award is not included in the quota of awards per member.

Community Service Award

This award for members recognizes members who do make exemplary contributions to community service as part of their club. It is for the individual who participates actively in most, if not all, of the club’s community service projects. It is not necessarily the one who spearheads, or leader such projects, although they may meet the qualifications below and also be eligible. It is for the member who is an active contributor. It is the member who stays and rakes leaves until it is done, serves a dinner, and helps clean up, who comes every time to help the elderly. It is the type of member that a leader can depend on to show up, work hard and not leave until everything is done. The award may be given every year that it is deserved and to as many members as deserve it. It will be based on a leader recommendation including several examples and the Community Service sheet in the member’s record book. It does not include non-4-H community involvement. It is based on the individual’s best effort and members are not to be compared to one another.
