In March of 2020, we had to cancel our 22nd year of doing our CLA program due to the pandemic. One year later, to keep things going, we tried a virtual version of our CLA program. While the response was good, our hope was that we’d go back to an in-person program in 2022. With the pandemic still looming, and resources being limited, we decided to forgo 2022. During that year, we did some soul searching to find ways to rejuvenate the program and stay current. CLA has always been run by a volunteer board, that is not only a governing board, but a working board. Finding the capacity to not only oversee the program but develop and evolve the program (and its curriculum) has been challenging.
As a result, we are in a holding pattern sort to speak trying to understand the future of CLA. We feel we know the impact the program has had on our 3-county region. We feel there is value in leadership and this type of work. However, in the world we live in today, there are many competing offerings. How do we compete? How do we differentiate ourselves? How do we stay relevant? Where does the capacity come from to keep the program moving forward?
We are trying to find the answers to those questions. We haven’t given up, but its likely that no new offering of CLA will happen until 2024 at the earliest. Please contact us with any questions or if you’d like to be on a list for future program offerings.
