COVID-19 creates challenges to food security

The COVID-19 public health emergency is creating an urgent food security challenge for households and communities in Wisconsin. Food security in our community rests on four pillars: financial security, robust federal food and nutrition programs, a strong emergency food network, and a vibrant food system. Produce Safety Training course offered online

Due to COVID-19 social distancing protocol a Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety (FSMA-PSR) grower training class will be offered online. This training fulfills the requirements of the FSMA-PSR and results in certification.

UW–Madison Extension provides tailored community resources to respond to COVID-19

Extension staff are transitioning its programming to remote delivery. Consultations can be held over the phone or videoconference. Educational programming can be held online. Some of these innovative delivery methods are being captured on an online Extension resource dedicated to COVID-19 response.
