Dairy Grazing Profitability Pasture Walk

Wisconsin Farmers Union, Glacierland RC&D, Organic Valley, Fond du Lac County Land and Water, & the Floods are hosting a Pasture Walk at Dan & Wendy Flood’s Organic Dairy Farm on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The Floods practice managed intensive rotational grazing with their organic dairy herd.  They graze 80 Dairy cows, plus dry cows and heifers on their 235 acre farm in Fond du Lac County. The Floods have been grazing since 2006. They converted to organic dairying in 2010 and are now 100% grass based dairy!

Pasture Walk: As we tour this dairy grazing farm, we will discuss the overall pasture layout with gateless paddock entries, pasture species, and the forage quality of the pasture. Yoana Newman, UW River Falls forages Professor & UW Extension Specialist, will lead the pasture forage quality discussion based on analysis of samples collected from the farm.

This event is open to the public and free of charge! Contact Kirsten Jurcek, Grazing Educator, and Glacierland RC&D at (920) 342-9504 or kjurcek1@centurytel.net with any questions.

Directions:  The Flood Farm is located at N4312 State HWY 151, Oakfield, WI about half way between Waupun and Fond du Lac on the north side of the highway. The drive way is accessed directly off HWY 151 on the north side of the road. A turn in is accessible from either direction.
