Engaging Teens/Older 4-H Youth

Description: Attention to making youth programs fun, interesting, welcoming and encouraging to young people in our 4-H Youth Development programs is important but not enough. This session, co-developed and delivered by youth and adult volunteers, will provide insight, tools, and resources volunteers can use to more effectively engage and meet the needs of teen members, a common challenge in youth programs.

Essential Elements to Positive Youth Development Online Training

Description: The training is designed for adult volunteers and youth leaders. The modules are 7-10 minutes in length. All four modules can be completed in 30 – 45 minutes. There is a brief introduction and summary. Following each module is a short feedback survey. Volunteers and youth leaders who take the online modules will have an opportunity to:

• Learn about each element in relation to different age youth from kindergarten to high school.

• Consider how what you can develop life skills in youth

• Build on what you know to foster the growth of these elements in young people
