Dear Swine Exhibitors,
We are so excited for the 2021 Rock County 4-H Fair, and to see you all back in the barn and show ring! With the spring hog sale season getting underway, we wanted to highlight some of the changes in the premium book for the 2021 Rock County 4-H Fair Swine Department that may affect some of your hog purchasing.
• NON-Terminal Show
  • You have the option to take your barrows home.
  • Please check with your local veterinarians for current testing requirements.
  • Any barrows going home will be released from the fairgrounds Sunday, August 1 at 9:00 PM.
• Breeding Stock Show (GILTS ONLY)
  • Breeding stock show will be Wednesday, July 28 at 8:00 AM.
  • The Barrow show will start immediately following the Breeding Stock show.
  • Gilts will remain on the fairgrounds the entirety of fair week, and will be released to go home Sunday, August 1 at 9:00 PM.
• Addition of December born Gilt lots.

• Removal of Boar lots.

• No birthdate requirement for purebred barrows.

• Carcass Contest
  • The status of a potential Carcass Contest for 2021 has yet to be determined due to circumstances beyond our control. Information on the status of the contest will be on the fair website: www.rockcounty4hfair.com by April 1.
• Showmanship, Breeding Stock, and Barrow shows will all take place in the STOCK PAVILION.
As always, a complete list of the Swine Department rules and information can be found in the premium book, so please refer to it if you have any further questions, or don’t hesitate to give us a call.
We can’t wait to see you all this summer!
